Does anybody know how Gemma is getting along?
Did she get a place at Oxford and is she there at the moment?
I often wonder how she is doing as she made quite an impression when she joined the forum three years ago.

She hasn't logged on in over a year.

She went on Davebythesea's boat trip in the summer as she is mentioned in the article in The Blue and according to the destinations of leavers section of The Blue she DID make Oxford.

Congratulations if she reads as a guest even though she is not logging in.

Gemma is now at Oxford, seems to be doing well if Facebook (where I am logged as a friend of hers) can be believed!

Ah, thanks Kerren. That is good news. I wonder how her friend from her old school in London, who changed her mind about going to CH, made out in the end.

Totally out of the blue I have received an email from a 'Gemma Newlands' copied to a couple of people at christs-hospital.org and gch.org.uk. (the Grey Coat Hospital School). Whilst I know that someone of that name signed up on the site I had no contact with her.

The text is a link to a Chinese (?) site which apparently sells " Men‘s clothing - Beauty Accessories, Beauty Supplies - Bags & Handbags - Shoes"

Has anyone else received this? I might trust my anti-virus programs but I'm not going to open this.

David, I haven't had that particular one, but recently I've received similar emails purporting to be from people I've been in touch with. One took me to a "miracle"- type food supplements website. I returned them to the alleged senders.
I have very good security on my laptop but somehow these are getting through. My cousin had a dreadful problem with a Viagra company that hijacked his contacts list & sent emails to all of them!

and another today, copied to a moderator at least one other forum member whom I can identify. This time it is for an Israeli site (well, a lot of text is in Hebrew script) and a whois lookup goes to an address in Israel - an individual who seems to be a nutritional chemist.

Gemma is at the same college as my daughter and doing extremely well! I think she gained an Exhibition for her Mods last year.

I am still in occasional touch with Gemma - She is blossoming at Oxford (reading classics) and is travelling widely and making a new life for herself. I'm sure we all wish her well.
