and you gave GB five days to resign. Not sure where he got the brain cell to help him decide.

I believe that there is a vacancy for the post of British Ambassador to Outer Siberia - I nominate Mandelson, and the sooner the better.

It would have been depressing whichever way the cookie had crumbled. As it stands now, either the LibDems probably won't be able to make their mark without offending the Tories (or it might have been Labour), or a coalition will crumble as a result of internal dissent. Shall we start taking bets on how soon there will be another General Election?

Having just spent the last hour in bed, going carefully through todays press and seeing in detail, the concessions made by both parties, I think the deal is far better than most could have hoped for.

No let up on the Tories policy on imigration.
Referendum on the voting system in general.
Firmer stand on the long-term young un-employed.
Almost a LibDem control on the Treasury.

If this lot don't do better than the last lot, I fear for the Country.

I have to say, after watching it all on tv last night, I thought GB departed with grace and humility.

Better than it could have been so long as I'm 1000 miles away. More seriously I have seen so many "agreed policies" quoted in the papers I don't beleive anything. For example the entire country is to be re-regionalised so that every constituency has ecxactly the same number of voters. They don't say how quickly the boundaries will be changed as youngsters get the vote and old people die. Everyone will have a £10,000 tax free allowance but company NI will be raised.............
Not sure what will be done with the underaged illegal immigrant kids; perhaps they are an alternative to the compulsory gay live-in partner. Perhaps Lib-Dem will do away with pedo...

A delicious moment when it was reported that Mandy had lost his ministerial limo to Dr Cable.

After Blunkett's remarks about Clegg, did anyone see the Times main cartoon?

And did anyone see Cameron's reaction, in the huggy/kissy joint presentation before the press today, when someone reminded him that during his election campaign, he had been asked about his favourite joke, and he replied 'Nick Clegg'. Said person was standing beside him, and Cameron morphed into an embarrassed teenager, apologised, and then went on to say that many of the the things said in the campaigning would have to be withdrawn, swallowed, obliterated, etc. etc. That's fine for massaging Nick Clegg's persona now, and to give HIM his due, he reacted graciously. But I do wonder what things like this hold for the (immediate) future, and how the coalition will actually work.

I know a little about Lib Dem Politics, and ---------- Please note that a lot of the alleged "Policies" have been made up by the journalistic indulgers in the "Crystal Ball "
The mutual, agreed Policies of the Coalition, are still being worked out.

If they have guessed rightly ---- Kudos !!

If not --- it is forgotten !!

Jan received this today, along with a doctored picture !

"There's an old sea story in the Navy about a ship's Captain who inspected his sailors, & afterward told the Chief Boatswain that his men smelled bad. The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors would change underwear occasionally.

The Chief responded, "Aye, aye sir, I'll see to it immediately !"

The Chief went straight to the sailors berth deck & announced, "The Captain thinks you guys smell bad & wants you to change your underwear." He continued, Griffin, you change with Clegg , & Brown, you change with Cameron. Now GET TO IT !"

THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS:

Someone may come along & promise "Change", but don't count on things smelling any better.

(Here endeth the lesson !)
