Cricket

I tend to listen to Cricket Commentaries on Radio 5 ------

HOWEVER --- I am, constantly, being bemused by the description of a ball, bowled, as a "DROOSHKA"
This may well be an incorrect spelling , but as I am only hearing it ------- :?
may I, please, have an explanation ?

I know little of Cricket, but was selected by Major Martin-Jenkins, (Yes -- his Daddy) to play in the Slips, since I was supposed to have "Quick Hands"
(Don't ask my Boxing Opponents ---- ask my Girl friends !)

Yes JR -- I'll get the Tin Hat, and Body Armour out !! :oops:

Neill, we listen to TMS on Radio 5 too. The ball you mentioned is a doosra. It's the off-spinner's version of the googly, I understand. Here's a useful link:

Thanks ! ----- I believe my education is now complete --- despite CH !! ---- I imagine the word might have been frowned upon, on Big Side in the 40s :oops:
