Six Nations Rugby - Take two!

Oops, already posted this on the Parents bit, meant to put it here under General! Rather than delete it I thought two hits might be better than one.
Anyway my recentish Old Blue son is desperate to get some 6 nations tickets. Original plans fell through so a rather late hunt for tickets, but can't pay silly prices! Any match, but preferably at Twickenham or Edinburgh. A long shot I know, but if anyone can help it would be hugely appreciated!

Amanda - apologies for late reply. I haven't visited the forum for a while. The info I have put below is probably too late to help for this year but might come in handy for 2012.

With the exception of the Italy game, 6 nations tickets are almost always oversubscribed. The best two options available (and please note there is no guarantee you will get tickets) is to join either the England Rugby Supporters' Club (ERSC - see http://www.rfu.com/FanZone/ERSC/HowToJoin.aspx) or become a member/supporter of your local club where membership includes entry in a ballot for tickets at Twickenham. In the past I've managed to get tickets to see Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Wales, Italy, Argentina & the Barbarians at Twickenham as a member of ERSC. Basically - you get entered into a ballot so it can be pot luck. Membership is £39 and you get a range of different stuff including the magazine & discounts. The advantage of joining a club membership scheme is that you get access/discounts for club matches all year round (if that's what floats your boat) as well. I'm not sure where you leave but Harlequins or Wasps are always good for a day out.

As for Murrayfield tickets I have no experience but can only presume Scottish Rugby has an equivalent of the ERSC. Can't imagine it has many members at the moment though! Image

Hope that helps.

Slightly off topic but related, did the CH Band play at Twickers today?

I missed the build up on TV and turned it on as the game was starting. I thought I saw yelow socks and housey coats marching off the pitch but could have been wrong!

Great performance by England! :D :D :D

Andy

Like you I switched on at kick off to hear a commentator make reference to the "Royal Hospital School Band" and thought the same as you. But maybe the Royal Hospital School have a band as well.

Andrew,

The Royal Hospital School does have a band apparently so perhaps it was them. I only caught a fleeting glimpse of the band leaving the pitch.

My younger (53) son, was so inconsiderate as to be born on the day on which I had two tickets for the England - Irish match in 1958 ------

I framed them --- with the sub title "Greater Love hath no man than this !"

40 years later -- he took me to the Match !!!

HO HO HO ! --- so Wales "Won" (!!!!)

I suppose that incompetent Officials, who don't notice that the ball has been changed, are to be tolerated -- But why ?

On a much lighter note -- did you see the Women's Match ? ---- Brilliant ! I watched, with awe, the handoff of the Winger (No 14)

I suppose 89 --0 is fairly conclusive !

And, of course, for France to be beaten by ITALY (!!!) is sheer joy

They should have taken the CH Band over.
At least then, someone from England would have enjoyed the trip.
