Old Blues seem to be making regular appearances on the Graham Norton Show. James D'Arcy was on last week and Taio Cruz (N.B.: Taio Cruz later confirmed to NOT be an Old Blue...Mod, Sep 22) was on last night. Taio Cruz is obviously hugely successful; I thought he came across really well and seemed like a genuinely nice guy. James D'Arcy likewise. Both good adverts for CH.

I may well have missed some posts but the last I read was that it was unclear if Taio really was an Old Blue or not. (N.B.: Taio Cruz later confirmed to NOT be an Old Blue...Mod, Sep 22)

According to the vat of truth ( ) that is Wikipedia, Taio Cruz was educated at Bilton Grange, but this is a Prep school only for ages 4-13. After that he could well have come to CH and Wiki does list him under the multiple notable OBs. His first name is Jacob, so this may aid someone who is prepared to do further investigation.

I've come across two different versions of his (supposed) real name: Tayo Oluwaseyi Cruz da Silva and Adetayo Ayowale Cruz Onile-Ere. In the autumn of 2009, the CHOBA administrator searched the school records and couldn't find either.

That's what it now says on his website (and thus in Wikipedia) and it may be a key to the mystery, but I'm not sure how trustworthy the website actually is. Apparently his potted biography now states that he was born in Sussex but "went to school in Rugby, Warwickshire, West Midlands" (location of Bilton Grange), whereas as recently as last February it was still claiming he "went to school in rural Sussex".

Is it significant that his name doesn't appear in the article about younger Old Blues in the music world on pages 21-23 of the newly arrived Blue?

He is not an old Blue. A member of my family works with him and can verify that!

I love the way the James D'Arcy's date of birth is listed as 2 years later on IMDB than it actually is. He was at CH in Lamb B/Lamb A between 1984 & 91 so should be born in 1973... He's obviously trying to keep the dreaded 40 at bay! These actors and their vanity about age

His name was Taio Popoola - left in the mid 90s. Good rugby player as i remember. 1st XV

Different Tayo. Tayo Popoola is a different person who did go to CH. He used to want his coffee black with two sugars, I remember that about him quite clearly.

The legend is alive and well.
