Thank you both. Very quiet day really - four cards, a bunch of flowers and two Skype calls, and a long lazy soak in the bath! Plus my husband reminding me ad nauseam that I am older than he is for the next six months, which must mean he is a toy boy. JR - sunny Surbiton is actually cold, wet and windy - probably much the same as leafy Dorking. The closest thing to accessible culture available today is a fish and chip quiz night at the local community arts centre!

I hope you have enjoyed the day, I very rarely get any flowers!

Many, many years ago I saw some of your birthday cards, Frances! Do you remember how they were put up on the mantelpieces in the dayroom? I think you could keep them up for a week couldn't you? Susan Cottingham's birthday is 7th May, so did she have the other mantelpiece for hers? Mine never went up in the dayroom as with an end of August birthday I wasn't at school for it until the 4 term year and I was in the Study.

Katharine, that must be where I got the habit of leaving cards up for a week, although I don't remember it as happening at school. I wonder, do you have an e-mail address for Susan C? It might be good to send her birthday greetings - snail mail would be no good this weekend! If you have perhaps you could send me a PM?

Sorry I missed your birthday Frances. Hope you enjoyed the fish and chips.....
I too have a rule (didn't know where it comes from but now I know!) about leaving birthday cards up for a week.
Had you been on Facebook (see Maria!) I would have probably spotted this on the correct day. Apologies again...

Thanks Kerren, and sorry to hear of your experiences on Old Blues Day. I am a resolute avoider of Facebook - Maria will usually let me know if there is anything which she thinks I might find of interest - it saves an awful lot of time-wasting! I hear there is talk of a reunion in Hertford in about September - hope it doesn't clash with the 50+ reunion at Horsham!!

Yes. there are several ideas for a Hertford OG reunion. I think that Jo Sidebottom is one of the main drivers. Watch this space or keep in touch with Maria!!
Hope you are well.

Sorry I missed your birthday Frances but glad you had a good day. The FB group is so busy I keep forgetting to look here too!

I am hoping to arrange a Hertford reunion in September but it will be a strictly unofficial event because some of the people in the FB group would run a mile if they thought CH was trying to ensnare them again. I had a provisional date which will probably change as it clashes with something else, but I'm sure Maria will let you know when details are confirmed. If I remember, I will post them here too.
