Does anybody know firstly if there is such a thing? Secondly where it is if it exists? Thirdly is it open to Old Blues?

Museum has every copy of the blue ever, although due to the fact that CH stupidly feel it can mothball the place for two years, I have no idea how you could view it, wait yes I do contanct Tony Hogarth-Smith in the counting house I think he's the bloke who will let you in although he won't know where the blue is kept, but to save you time they are stored in the grey boxes in the seminar room on the left hand side, unless they've been moved which at this time is always a possibility.

Is the museum closed then?

Maybe they could start digitising the Blue, so have an electronic archive. Save on space, dust, and make it more accessible.

Digitising resources is easy to do. About time CH caught up with the e-learning world!

If you are interested at looking at the Blue, going back to the very early editions, but not a complete set, then they are all sitting in the CH Club roon in CH. I assume that they will be kept when the Association comes into effect.
I used them for House Notes for the upcoming Blue.
Nobody is going to stop you looking at them, although they may want to know if you take them away.
Wendy Killner binds them when there is a suitable number.
Digitilising takes for ever and is not a priority unless someone offers to do it.

With all respect I work in Information Services doing electronic resources, and digitisation is relatively low tech and easy to do, and not that time consuming. I was never suggesting doing the whole lot either!

The Blue could be produced as an electronic 'journal' thus saving money, if Old Blues would want to get it that way. I specialise in electronic journals, and it is the way most students now prefer to get their material (along with e-books and digitised readings).

It was only a suggestion.

My apologies.
I worked in admin and I felt that scanning 2 and a half shelves of books would take some time, especially if there are other, more important time users.
I am sure there are now better methods of doing it, but none that I have seen at CH.
There is no doubt that the Blue will eventually be published as an electronic journal, and that we hope to produce it sooner than later. The old brigade will still want to see something on paper and how long that will go on, I cannot tell.
Recent Blues should be available in electronic format, at least those that I have prepared, since they have been produced in Word or Open Office, transferred into a PDF and Quark for the printers, so we could start to look at recent issues.
Thanks for the idea.

I don't think I even know where the CH club room is and I've lived at CH for over 10 years!

I think you'll have walked past it every time you entered Dining Hall by the back door (assuming that's still in use?)
It's just on the corner opposite the counting house, in the same block as Dining Hall....
Never been in myself, but seen the name plate.....

Look in the next Blue, now at the printers, for photos of Club entrance and club room.

Matt didn't you help out with The Blue? When I was Editor, we had to go and lug boxes of the magazine from there around the school... I think my arms had stretched about 10cm by the time I gave up my position to the next generation...!

I think that in future we could host the Blue and the Old Blue (the Association Magazine) on the Internet site. Westmister School archive their copies 3 months after publication.
