Wow. Watching those makes me feel 12 years old again.

YouTube helpfully suggested I may wish to watch this video too, Dobbie leading the 1988 Rememberance Day service

Don't suppose there are any videos of when the school was on Songs of Praise in 1995/1996?

I was there for Highway. Met Harry briefly. I believe I told him my mum was his biggest fan.

I’ve looked previously and have only found BBC audio of the choir, which may or may not have been from that recording.

At about 23.02 the girl being interviewed grew into my erstwhile neighbour.

pace Rockfreak etc, some pupils (like myself) NEEDED boarding school because of their home circumstances. And in my case, in spite of the bullying, which my housemaster knew all about: one night when it reached a crescendo (fortunately there was a No.1 victim ahead of me) he stormed into the junior dorm and his comment was 'This is the culmination of two years of disgusting bullying' - which, as far as I could tell, he had done NOTHING about.

After the Bluecoat school video, You Tube took me to the following video of the band and march-in from Old Blues Day in April 2013.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZR5duaDOSo

I loved it!

It reminded me that there are also so many happy and positive memories. Much-needed after all the pain, poignancy and perplexity of recent weeks. (and without wishing to diminish my profound shock, horror and abject disgust at what happened).

I would encourage many of you to find 15 minutes to watch it.

ps - what's with all the mutliple broadie buckles? One fella seemed to have 5 buckles on his broadie, many two or three? New to me (or my memory is even shabbier than I think it is...)

And here's one of Beating Retreat 1992 - my last retreat and the last for the legend that was David Eliot. I did every Retreat during my time at CH, progressing from the Bugle Band statue on my Squits and Third From, to the main band from there on in.

Now, that is an incredibly fond memory. The band meant so much to me.

Wow - I’d never seen those videos, and lots of friends and memories on them, which is fantastic!
And yes - I do believe that’s me in the cloisters - how you spotted that, I’ve no idea - nearly missed it myself, and don’t remember being filmed.

A timely reminder of the genuinely great things the school provides and continues to provide today.
I’ve been feeling quite low about CH recently, and this has refreshed my good memories fantastically.

Hah... depends on how your memories of your time there were. The parts where Poulton appeared got me swearing at the screen.

Does anyone remember a rather random lunchtime marching where we were surrounded by models on roller skates for (what I believe was) a fashion magazine photo shoot? It was surreal I almost thought I’d dreamt it but speaking to my OB friends they remember it too. I would love to know if anyone ever saw those photos.

I mainly enjoyed seeing and hearing old school friends, who are prominent in the video. I was in LHA with Nick Atkinson and Steve Maddocks, and seeing Ed Blake, Bradley Quirk, Rohaise Flint and others brought back good memories. Nice, given some of the bad ones being revived for me and others at the moment.

Why is boarding school considered to be a suitable alternative to an inadequate home? Am I not right in thinking that today's social services departments go some way to try and place a troubled child with a foster family rather than an institution?

I can't find the footage of Dobbie writing on a pupils hand?

6:32 is the late Clerk, Michael Peary talking.
