DEATH OF PADDIE DRAKE

C.S "Paddie" Drake (CH 1939-47)
All Old Blues will be saddened to learn of the death of Paddie Drake on Saturday last. Paddie was dedicated to Christ's Hospital and everything it stood for, and demonstrated this love by his exceptionally long stint as Old Blue Editor of The Blue. He took on the job for "a short time" and stayed for ten years because nobody else would take it on until John Hopgood shouldered the burden last year. Paddie put his life and soul into The Blue, and its content and presentation improved immeasurably under his editorship. Paddie continued with this task despite the serious illnesses of both himself and his wife, and never faltered. He also greatly loved the CH Club and everything it stood for, and it is no secret that he was saddened in his final months by the decision to disband it.
Paddie deserves the thanks of all Old Blues and of the school he loved so well,
