I notice in the death notices in the Times today, that Dennis Silk has died. He was Senior Grecian in the early 50s when I was there and was even kept for on by Flecker for an extra term. He was quite renowned as an England Cricketer and later as warden of Radley College. In that latter role I once met up with him on a chance occasion. I would expect that someone will give him a proper obituary soon.

Very sad indeed. I overlapped at university with his son, Tom. Dennis was on my interview committee for the Morehead Scholarship in 1983. I still have his personal congratulory letter. He was Warden at Radlet for 23 years and one of the best and most repsected Heads of his era.

There are obituaries all over for him which shows the greatness of the man.
