er ..... now I am indeed VERY confused!! The question is whether or not I actually NEED to be educated further given my time of life etc. etc.

....tho' curiosity is indeed a powerful thing. ....?

PS "standardisation" might prove a little - how shall we say? - disappointing not to say uncomfortable. I mean, how far does it go (if you get my drift)?

Thanks for that Tim !!

Nothing wrong with good old fashioned lather and razor

Incidently, with you lot all getting 'the drift' syndrome, may I point out that if you drift too far, with razor in hand, the result is a nasty and painful cut just where you didn't want one !

Not on your tender portions! Regrowth and stubble=owww!! Whipping it off with a bit of wax is much less painful in the long run (and you don't run the risk of having your nether regions looking like George Michael in the 1980s).

That was used in my time (78-84), but in 2 different senses.

There was a teacher (a "master"?!) whose "insult" was Zob.
Zob was Mr Lorimer. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzob !
