There is a shop - not online at the mo but can be telephoned - and, yes, they have LOADS of Christmas cards etc. I believe the shop is to close down in a week or so and that they are having a final big closing down sale on OBs day - so there's your chance, Happy!!

PS I bought a fleece for £15 for myself when I took Jonathan up at the beginning of term. They also do an excellent line in mugs!

Closing down? Whose bright idea was that? Put the whole lot online and get selling I say. I'll be late for the Bax now.

What does everyone think? Should CH have an online shop?

It would seem sensible. I don't know the reasons behind the decision to sell off the existing stock, or whether there are any plans for the future.

I can only guess that the turnover and profits obtained didn't justify the money which was tied up in stock.

Perhaps we'll find out on Saturday.....

It did have an online shop - I believe it was http://www.houseofhousey.co.uk - I can only assume that it didn't make enough money...

This one has been debated in the CHA meetings, but not in any depth (too early to be top of the priority list at this point, but discussion is happening).
I believe that the memorabilia hasn't been making any money in it's current form and selling route. That website used to be live (I bought from it in the past) - don't know what happened to it.

It's interesting to see the interest here though - maybe some responses outlining what type of memorabilia would help our discussions in the future?
I for one always bought the CH Christmas Cards - a small something to raise the school profile with my friends (some of whom now have kids) and also to donate to the school.

As an aside, if anyone's interested in CH design socks (not the yellow ones) see here:- viewtopic.php?t=103 (someone's making money out of CH memorabilia!)

I wanted one of the CH puzzles - saw it advertised a while back in a catalogue but then I moved house and lost the catalogue

why not just sell through eBay?

Yes, that would be very easy to set up - minimal work required once the initial listings and descriptions have been done.

The question is - who would do it?

Also, CHE will no longer do 'small weddings' - ie ones with under 250 guests!!

Sounds like another case of the 'Authorities' deciding that OB's don't warrant a second thought after leaving the confines of Horsham.

Aren't weddings etc. handled by Quadrant Events, or is this just a part of C.H.E.?

A couple of my friends are looking into getting married at C.H. next year, and I don't think anyone has specified a minimum number of guests.

Quadrant is part of CHE - and I believe this ruling is due to come in soon...
