Seeing Tony Blair at the Lord Mayor's banquet last night - on the News, I wasn't actually there - reminded me of sitting on the floor of the Egyptian Hall eating something called a packed lunch. So, does everybody still line so the Lord Mayor can present them with a 5p coin? In 1967 when I joined the school it was a shilling and actually worth something.

When I was at the school it was a 20p coin and on my GE it went up to a 50 p coin - I still have them all somewhere...

If Tuck Shop`s open on pupils` return - guess where they head with their 50p pieces?!

My daughters have both kept all theirs , although being "presented" with them in House is probably not quite the same somehow!

When I wasn't in the choir (my squits) we received them from the head in the theatre...

i got all of mine somewhere at home, all but my first year we went to london and got it from the lord majors wife i think for awhile. it was 20p then went up to 50p and finally i think on my grecians is was £1. MIght see if i can dig tehm out at home.

still got mine too, a couple in plastic cases and one in an envelope.

I don't remember anything like this, I am sure I would have as money (or lack of it) was always important.

We got a pound - the sixth form marched through London to the Mansion House to be presented with the money by the Lord Mayor. We were led by the band from Horsham and had many weeks of practicing march to a record of the band played over loud speakers...

I got a special 60th Anniversary Commemorative Edition of a £2 coin...for being a Monitor...

But yes 50p is the current fad.

Mine was a shilling.

5p each time.

Went there, got them, spent them...

It's a struggle now to imagine having lived a half-century...my hat goes off to you all.
