Just found this on the C.H. website:

Too late to apply now!
Still, some interesting info there for those who collect that sort of thing.

There's a section in the document which states that "by September 2007 the School will have its own Governing Body, as a separate (but related) legal entity from the Council of Almoners."
It goes on to say that the Head will be appointed by the Council of Almoners, but will be employed by the Governing Body.
Does anyone have any more information about these changes?

A very interesting read Richard.
I noted one or two very ambiguous sentences, of the 'either/or' variety.
A bit like that marvellous 'Marx Brothers' contract, in 'A Night at the Opera'.
"When the party of the first part........... "

The charts detailing parental income and where the pupils come from are quite interesting!
I see the West Country still supplies a decent percentage, compared to the Midlands / East Anglia etc. Glad to see that!

it was announced in Headmaster's assembly at end of term that the new head is an Aussie, who is currently head at Ardingly. Can't recall of the name though...

Although it won't affect me, since he arrives the year I leave, some interesting tidbits about Mr Franklin have come up.
I used to go to Ardingly College and am still in touch with students who have, by now, been under him for the best part of five years.
He is a businessman rather than an academic, and has successfully overseen building projects at Ardingly.
Ardingly has been run effectively as a company, maximising its profits. The proportion of wealthy German and Chinese students was increased greatly during his tenure, and he was said to be personally against non full-fee paying students as a drain on school resources. Fairly persuasive evidence was produced to support this claim
He sounds like he will be an effective troubleshooter for the school's financial woes. And apparently Dr Southern likes the man. It would be interesting to see what Mrs Ireland (formerly of Ardingly College) has to say about him.

Where does this leave the CH 'mission statement'?

and, if it's true - why was he appointed? Surely being Headmaster at CH implies possession of attributes far more important than business acumen... I find Raff's comments very worrying.

well he may be able to turn the school around financially - but i don't know how much of a remit the head has on that - that's more likely the Clerk's department...

Good point and following on from that too many "rich" parents could breach the charitable Governing Instrument of the Foundation thereby threatening it's charitable status as a worst possible scenario.
However the guy must be aware presumably that CH is not a "typical" public school so perhaps we are worrying unecessarially.
