St Matthews Day Parade
As the whole school are going to be in London for the St Matthew's Day parade this year I am planning to take the day off to watch them. Can anyone suggest where would be a good place to go to see them etc?
Thank you!
Thank you!

JR It is because they are all atending a service at St Pauls afterwards to commemorate 460 years of CH. Unfortunately there are no spare tickets for the service for Parents, however I shall go up to see the whole school marching.
Re: St Matthews Day Parade
I'd love to go but can't but other family members who work in the City may be able to.
So, as and when, anyone gets details of the route and timing PLEASE DO post here!!
Thank you

A request: the Wikipedia article on CH would benefit from a St M's day photo - would some kind spectator be willing to take some photos and make them available under a suitably free licence? ...so that a quality photo (or photos) could be incorporated into the Wikipedia article (and frankly any decent photos available on Wikimedia would be good publicity for the Foundation and informative for prospective parents and students etc....)

The whole of Horsham and Hertford went in 1953 (though I don't think the girls were in the initial march to St Sepulchures).J.R. wrote:The WHOLE school ?

Absolute so-and-so because we had three bands and heard the beat at different times because of being at different distances from the bands. Also we had to break step going over London Bridge and then get back into step when we got to dry land
What happens if a politician drowns in a river? That is pollution.
What happens if all of them drown? That is solution!!!

Great to read all of your comments but can anyone actually tell me where would be a good spot to place myself? Thanks

Not greatly different from the photos I had of Paddie Drake leading the parade after the war.Vièr Bliu wrote:Thanks.

Except, where was the band in the movie?
And did we have drummers half way down the parade in the '60's?

I think you'd be better off checking with the School about the route - no-one seems able to offer any help here. Sorry! Anyway, I hope you get a good spot & enjoy the spectacle.

Outside St Pauls to watch them arrive will be a good place, then watching them arrive at Mansion House is always a proud moment too!
