No, surely this is a spoof... unless CH have taken the unprecedented decision to be more candid in their advertising! ("Taking every penny you earn" has certainly been my own family's experience!)Is that headline actually correct ?

Not exactly advertising but this appeared in the Independent
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/educa ... 59106.html
I was surprised to see
only 11 per cent pay the full boarding fee of £25,000 a year.
Higher than I had imagined

I guess I owe about £150,000, less, of course, my Father's contribution as a Police Constable, on about £7 a week !!

Oh my goodness, the scathing comments that appear after the article... These people are so ignorant... and so nasty!

Misinformed, which is curious, given that they are reading a newspaper.Volupturaptor wrote:Oh my goodness, the scathing comments that appear after the article... These people are so ignorant... and so nasty!

Mind you, setting such targets is very different from achieving them! Considering that the school is having to compete for increased fee income at a time when even the more affluent families are feeling the economic pinch, they are doing well to attract so many full fee paying pupils.
And getting higher all the time... It is only a couple of years since CH used to cap the number of pupils paying full fees at 6%. This cap was then increased to 12%, and as far as I am aware it has now been removed altogether.I was surprised to see

Re: CH Advertising in the papers
I have contacted the school, and this was indeed a doctored article. This is gross misrepresentation, and not in the interests of CH. Whilst this Forum encourages freedom of opinion, it's been setup to support and foster relationship between Old Blues, Parents etc. and not to defame CH.
Please take a moment to read the Ts and Cs in the FIRST TIME VISITORS section.
I am presuming that the original poster was not aware the advert had been doctored, and have emailed them to request if they'd be prepared to remove the picture from Flickr too - however i would urge caution in posting this sort of thing if it appears to have been doctored....

the original poster probably did the doctoring, ......didn`t you Tom!?!?

Re: CH Advertising in the papers
Isn't most of what 's here an opinion? This includes misrepresentation, insinuation or falsehood, rather than an opinion, since anyone can hold an opinion of their own.
The original poster had one of three motives I imagine . One was to post what he thought was witty piece of satire. Secondly he had an axe to grind or third he felt he had a reasonable point due to experience .This is an open forum and anyone can access it and comment. It opens a whole can of worms about freedom of speech and whether you allow it and let people respond or not or whether you disallow comments or items which the moderators believe present the school in a negative way-in their opinion...
I think most people would see this item as a joke. We all know it's hard to pay the fees but we choose to do so.So do most parents who pay for independent education.I expect all parents who pay school fees would appreciate the same joke whatever school their children attend.
