of course, I was just thinking of putting them on the prayer list at church, which is awkward without a name, but it's not a problem - they will be remembered however.

Sorry, Maria, that didn't even occur to me. I haven't been involved with a church for years so have forgotten all the things people do for each other - and for strangers. It's quite humbling, but in a way energising, too. Sorry, I've come over all teary now; my daughter was baptised in September, at the ripe old age of 41! She'd told her vicar of her hopes & misgivings about it, & he said the Church always has room for doubting Thomases - I think that's what clinched it for her.

I've just heard from Lonelymom. Her little one's bloods were not good, showing acute bacterial infection, so she's on the highest strength antibiotics intravenously and different ones orally. She has also been started on tamiflu, which they didn't do before as the Dr thought she was too poorly. The good news is that her temperature is finally stabilising with intravenous drugs, her breathing is easier as she is on 100% oxygen and her blood pressure is dropping. Lets hope that this is the start of her long awaited recovery at last. I am going up to see her later so will update again after I've been.

Gosh, she really is in a bad way, poor little thing. Puts into perspective the people who think they've got flu when they've really only got a cold. Continued best wishes to Lonelymom and the rest of the family.

Do we know which hospital she's in? Just idle curiosity really - working for the NHS and knowing a bit about some of them, I'm always interested to know!

Yes, you're right there, Jo. Anthony & I have shared a stinker of a cold for the past fortnight but it's trivial compared to what this little one's suffering.

I've just returned from a visit to Lonelymom and her daughter. I passed on all your good wishes and said I'd pass her thanks back to you all. Unfortunately there's not really been any change in her daughter's condition since this morning. The good news is that her temperature is staying down as is her blood pressure, but she still can't manage without the oxygen. Let's hope there's some improvement overnight.

Thanks for keeping us posted, Barnes Mum. It must be a very frightening time for Lonelymum and her daughter and I do hope that tomorrow will see some improvement. I wonder how Momto2 is getting on with her little girl - and hope that the children left at school are recovering enough to be able to travel home for a few days. I know a few of the current pupils and have been checking up on them - they seem to be fine and relishing some time at home!
