Angela, you could have done this yourself.

I too am a whisky drinker. Blended I mix with hot milk/chocolate/coffee at bedtime/rugby/racing.

Malt I drink straight.

Son and husband both like Caol Ila, I didn't even get to taste it.

Actually, I have a question - I don't like whisky at all, but was studying a Jack Daniels ad - what does it taste like?

Any decent single malt when I've got the money.

Very partial to 'Famous Grouse'. Johhny Walker is OK.

Bells and Haigh should be consigned to paint stripping only.

Across the water, good old Jamieson's goes down very well.

Jack Daniels is bourbon whiskEy.

Bourbon tends to be slightly sweeter than Scotch and I like it. I once had an imported one which came in a box shaped like a coffin, called "Gravedgger" or some such. I may be completely wrong as it lived up to its name and I couldn't remember much about the next 3 days.

Jamesons is brilliant but we're drinking Bushmills Triple Distilled (Irish) at the moment because
a) it has STOPPED RAINING!
and
b) we like it
and
c) it was cheaper than Jameson's in Sainsbury's.

Teacher's is "ok", Bell's makes me ill, Grant's not much better, The Grouse nearly as good as Jamesons.

Husband came home with Tesco's own brand and put ginger wine in it, because it is STILL raining.

I cannot drink whisky, much to my regret. It's all Christ's Hospital's Fault. When I was a teenager at school, I had an unfortunate experience with whisky and red wine. I can still drink red wine, thankfully, but whisky is a no-no no for me.

'They' say it is not a good idea to mix grape and grain - but what would I know; I don't like whisky or whiskey anyway!

I'm a big single-malt fan.
Can't bear the blended stuff - yet to taste one I like. Used to think I hated Whisky, as I'd only tasted blended (Bells) - little did I know until I tasted a decent single malt!

Favourites:-
Isle of Jura, ideally "Superstition" which I found in Edinburgh duty-free.
Glenlivet - 12 year old.

Never used to like Laphroig - but love it now - tastes change I guess.

I visit part of my team in our Scottish office once a month, and make it a rule to buy at least one decent bottle on the way home - makes the journey more palatable!

Makes the drive back from the airport anticipatory (is that a word?) - as I'm waiting to crack open a new bottle and give it a taste!

I'd personally love to try all the various single malts etc but the truth is I cannot stand the taste. So I feel somewhat uneducated in this respect. I do like a decent vodka though - Stolichnaya, neat, straight from the freezer and straight down in one.

Ron Zacapa Centenario does for me.
Zacapa is not a town to stop in but the rum they make is excellent.

But if I am going to drink Whiskey and Ginger --- then Tesco's own, is the obvious choice !

A drop or two of Stone's G W improves some blended whiskies no end, but not Bell's, for me - my stomach can still recognise the enemy!
