Got my copy
of The Blue (not JH's one the School one) today and have noticed interviews with actors and artists in residence as they are described (together with an excellent article on Davebythesea's sailing trip but I digress).
We didn't have them in my day (pours pink gin and dusts down MCC tie or I would if I had one!) so I suppose my question (s)is what is their function? Is it a way of getting extra teaching support at a cheaper rate?

Re: Got my copy
Just another fancy-term, me-thinks !
If the person concerned was a down-and-out actor, would he be referred to as
'Actor-Living-In-A-Cardboard-Box' ??

The (insert term here)-in-residence are professional musicians/actors/artists/bungee-jumpers who as well as teaching put on works of their own: e.g. their own Art Exhibitions, concerts, or direct their own plays.

Re: Got my copy
I hope it means more at CH than it did at other schools! Someone in my family scraped a third in Fine Art, has never earned a living from art (or anything else, come to that) but for a couple of terms was "artist in residence" at a local school!

Are you perchance, related to 'Angry of Tunbridge Wells', who often writes to The Times ??

Re: Got my copy
I see that the cricket 1st X1 captain, Matthew Bassett, has broken the CH all time run scoring record for a career in the first X1 with 1,674 runs. The previous record holder was Nick Konig apparently.
I suspect that modesty prevents the author of the article, the esteemed Plum Senior member of this forum, from mentioning that his own contribution cannot have fallen far short of this figure. I think from memory he made his 1st X1 debut when in the LE and was pretty much a permanent fixture thereafter. He bowled as well.

If I am correct in surmising your real name there could be a photo of your daughter in The Blue with some other pupils.Mrs C. wrote:my daughter`s not happy - all her friends seem to have their copies but she STILL doesn`t!

This is odd as no one from CH has there copy - including me -perhaps Horsham postal workers are on strike. They were all posted together so this is very wierd.
