Re: Snow
... not me personally but a good friend and fellow OB in Somerset! Not a happy bunny!
Meanwhile the snow here is very pretty but the hoar frost has gone so everything is a little less white than it was... good job I took piccies last week! The river is frozen enough for a footbridge across the ice (min 20cms) instead of the föri - but this means that the broken ice in the föri's path is now freezing over & the ducks are running out of somewhere to swim - and presumably eat!?!
Hanna commented on all the little rocks around the water - it's actually the ducks curled up around the last little bit of accessible water...
Outside temp minus 5 according to my thermometer but that's set up on the terrace, so it's probably a bit lower out in the chilly breeze... certainly felt it on the way home this evening.

Re: Snow
Poor ducks. Can 't someone break some ice for them, to enable them to reach some water.....
What normally happens in northern climes such as Finland? Please don't tell me the ducks (and other waterfowl) pass away in normal weather conditions?
Commiserations to the OB friend with a flat tyre, Maria, too! I am So Cross!

Re: Snow
Please be careful, folks - snow over ice - lethal combination!!
Here the crunchy snow persists (easier to walk on) - temp about -7 this afternoon - snowing on & off, mainly very light top-ups!
Didn't see river today - no duck update.

Re: Snow
No ice, it has all gone, and I don't think tomorrow's will hang around, it is not going to be cold like last week.

Re: Snow
It's been pretty cold here today--I'm surprised it hasn't rained, as that usually happens when I get my hair cut!

Re: Snow
Fingers crossed that the next promised load of snow will not either hang around too long, nor start to melt and then freeze - which is when the problems occur.

But not a flake in so-called equally-leafy Surbiton, just a few miles up the road.
