Re: Andy Murray
I think the right man won, but I do feel very much for Roddick on his 3rd Wimbledon final loss. Federer is just awesome though, and no-one can criticise him that Nadal wasn't there, Roger couldn't help that and he took full advantage, well done to him!
I'm not as fond of Murray as I was of Henman due to Murray's sometimes cocky, arrogant personality and occasional petulence; Henman was much more of gentleman and easier to watch, but then it is the tennis that counts and Murray is a brilliant player and good luck to him, I'm sure his time will come at Wimbledon.

Re: Andy Murray
I personally think the fundamental difference between henman and Murray is their atttude-and that slightly arrogant personality makes him the far more successfull player. Think of the other many successfull brits-none of them aren't the most interesting, charasmatic people in the world-there job is to focus on the sport! Lewis Hamilton, Steven Gerrard??Wuppertal wrote:I think the right man won, but I do feel very much for Roddick on his 3rd Wimbledon final loss. Lewis Hamilton, not charismatic? I guess it depends on how you define charisma. I think he comes across as a thoroughly nice young man. Apart from being an extremely good driver and totally dedicated to what he is doing, I have never heard of him being nasty in any way. He is always quick to admit when he has made a mistake, but slow to blame others even when they are clearly at fault. He always points out that Formula 1 is a team sport and he could not do what he does on track without the support of the team, who have often worked long hours to get the car in the right condition; somehow he manages to give them praise when things go right but rarely to blame them when it all goes wrong. Given that he does not come from the traditional wealthy public-school kind of background, I think he is an excellent ambassador for the sport. Not only is he the only black driver in Formula 1, he is the child of a broken marriage, grew up on a council estate with a disabled brother, but with a father who was prepared to work all hours to encourage him in the sport he clearly excelled at from an early age. He was fortunate in getting sponsorship from Ron Dennis and the McClaren team which led him to where he is now. At an age when most young men are still deciding what they want to do with their lives he has already achieved his ambition to become World Champion, and is only now beginning to break away from his father and lead his own life doing what most rich young men of his age do. Yet we never hear of him behaving like some other youngsters of that age - no mention of drink or drugs or general rowdyism; he did once get stopped for speeding in France, but admitted it, apologised and took the punishment. In general he seems to be the kind of lad I would be pleased to see my daughters going out with - metaphorically, that is; mine are both happily settled!
So you can keep the charisma; I'd go for Lewis any day! Now I am off to watch him on TV at the Nurburgring, and hope he does better today than he has so far this season.

Re: Andy Murray
I quite like Lewis Hamilton, but he has become somewhat sulky in defeat.
Jenson Button, however......
I was SO pleased for Mark Weber today. His first pole-position and his very first F1 win ! A really thrilling race.

Re: Andy Murray
I didn't see any sign of Lewis after the race. If he was sulky he was probably kicking himself, because for perhaps the first time this season he actually had a decent car and managed to make a mess of things. However, I did hear the comments of Barichello blaming his own team for what was apparently a mechanical fault with the fuel system. That was a blatant example of bad sportsmanship and should never have come from someone who has been in the sport for as long as Barichello has. However we are seriously off topic here - perhaps this all needs to go to a new thread - in which case it would no doubt fizzle out! After all, the Wimbledon tennis has been over for a week now!

I guess he is British rather than Scottish at the moment in the eyes of most....
Good luck to him in the Australian final on Sunday.
