Can't quite fathom ought why India is only country in world with a half an hour extra??

Also why is <Portugal on same time zone as UK?
I THINK that Portugal changed last year to accord with mainland Europe which means that it is the same time from Warsaw to Cadiz etc. Weird!

As for the half hour, I think that there is one area in/close to Minnesota which has a different time idea to the rest - ? they don't have summer time or something like that. All designed to confuse!
Having more money doesn't make you happier. I have 50 million dollars
but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.

With all the talk currently about not putting the clocks back in October, can't help but think how much more difficult it would be to wake up on those dark winter mornings when it's hard enough to get out of bed anyway! Again I remember the struggle it was during the 1968/71 experiment. Didn't get properly light till about 9am; it felt unnatural, a kind of jet-lag feeling of disorientation, and who wants to look out on cold winter nights anyway? The school day nearly always ends by 4pm, and many workers still have to travel back in the dark in the middle of winter, whether clocks change or not . I say stay as we are and enjoy those cosy winter nights and light mornings.

Slightly "Off Topic" but I remember running a Factory during the 3 day week -----
It is an amazing fact that production INCREASED because everyone was determined not to let the difficulties grt the better of us.
I arranged for production using Electricity for 3 days, and for the other 3 we Packed, Delivered, Cleaned, and did Maintenance of Machines --- all with Portable Gas Lamps !

The English are a strange lot (Says an Irishman !!)

We put our clocks back on Sunday, which means that our 9am video conferences with Illinois, which became 8am video conferences when they started summertime a few weeks ago, become 7am video conferences, and that the 8am technical reviews become ................... well, lets just say that not many of us Adelaideans will be in attendance.

Queensland and The Northern Territory don't practice daylight saving, so at certain times of the year (I can never remember which) Queensland, which is, of course, east of South Australia, is behind us in time. Similarly, travelling north froim Adelaide requires a time change. Then there's Tweed Heads which is just south of the Qld/NSW border. Many residents live in one state and work in the other; losing or gaining an hour at certain times of the year.

I can cope with dark mornings (legacy of growing up in UK I guess), but I hate getting home in the dark to find that the washing that had dried during the day is now damp again.

Absolutely - Tweed Heads (NSW) and Coolangatta (QLD) have now expanded so that geographically they overlap and at certain times of the year you can have two time zones on the same street. The RSL is in Tweed whilst most of the resorts are in Coolangatta which is very confusing for the old folk, most of whom are Southerners come up north to die in the warmer northern climes!

Coolangatta, by the way, is Porpose Spit in Murial's Wedding if there are any fans of Toni Collette on this forum. It has changed a bit since then and not necessarily for the better.
