Is the Belt Tightening ?

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

I guess without events at CH, that means the cleaners, estates staff and catering will have to reduce their hours and get less money p.a. as a result as there won't be any significant work in the holidays (their pay was factored in to the price of events at CH).

(whoops - triple post)

But I guess that means that the overall wage bill will appear lower, as would the pensions bill... and so the figures would look slightly better... if only actually massaged a bit.

IT'S OFFICIAL !!!

My spies tell me that notices are appearing within the confines of the school to inform people of the demise of QE !

On another topical subject - Keep yer eyes on Sits. Vacant in the Horsham area for a Plum job at CH, (NOT for you, Matt).

I understand that time-off is in the contract for the purposes of 'getting your hair done !'

That's really sad. Three years of my life kinda wasted. Hopefully made enough cash during my time there to get a few pupils through the school.

Do you think the reasoning will be in the annual report?

Surely it would be a great waste of resources not to use the school outside of term time...

I guess it must make the staff happy though not to have to clear their classrooms each holiday and so they can carry on like they own the place when the kids aren't there. Undeclared taxable benefits, or what...

There has also been a problem of boarding houses being "trashed", which is not an easy job for houseparents to get sorted on their return from their summer holiday - especially when it all needs doing at the same time.

I`ve been told, but please don`t quote me on this, that QE has been making barely £30,000, and it just wasn`t cost effective. Whether that is clear profit - or amount BEFORE deducting repairs etc, I don`t know.

I'm sure that CHE and Quadrant used to make far more than that...
