We didn't have wash basins - we had a long trough so I suppose we had metal bowls for water. The loos (almost equally pubic) were behind the camera person.

Ha, it so happens I have the view going the other way, from the bath as it were. The loo is behind the wooden screen at the end (still no door), the trough was replaced by washbasins mid 60's ? This picture is 1973 ish incidently.



In the picture L to R Gareth Balle, Ken Brown, Phil Underwood. Paul Cornish is sitting on the basin at the end. Chris Steane is walking behind Phil, his face can be seen in the mirror. Regulation towels hanging up in the near foreground.

To revert to the original title of this thread, which seemed to have deviated somewhat, I have just watched Holly Walsh on iplayer doing rather well in Celebrity Mastermind. Unfortunately she was beaten at the last moment by Ken Bruce with 26 points, but Holly's score of 22 was pretty impressive too.
