Fatty Churchill's (PB) dates are correct as is his succession after Peter Smith (PA).
Great guy. Didn't believe in discipline or punishment, thus very popular in PB.
Classics scholar and consequently a big favorite of Seaman's.
Near albino with a blush that turned his face fire engine red.
It was our duty as juniors to make him blush.
A plate dropped in front of him during grace achieved spectacular results.

Yes 1970 was Christopher Tremayne, and he was Col.B. I was in the same house at the time.

So, this thread is ancient, but missing the bulk of the 70s when I was there, so this is my contribution (lol):

68/69 John Churchill (Pe B)
69/70 Chris Tremayne (Col B)
70/71 Brian Miller (Col A)
71/72 Jeremy Olver (Col A)
72/73 John Rowlands (Col A)
73/74 Adrian Fulcher
74/75 Jeremy James
75/76 Chris Holmes
76/77 Ray Pratley
77/78 John Granger (Th B)

Can't remember the houses for a few of them (please add them!). Corrections and additions welcome. Straz should know!

72/73 John Rowlands (Col A)
73/74 ???? Adrian Fulcher
74/75 ???? Jeremy James
75/76 ???? Chris Holmes

I don't know if these dates are right.
I left in July 75 (after my O Levels) and Adrian Fulcher had started with me in 1970. Although he went LE and I went LF but we were both in ThA at the same time.
Jeremy James started the year after us and sat his O Levels in 75.
If this was the ex LHB Chris Holmes, then he was LE (and a House Monitor) when I was a squit (2nd former) in LHB 70/71 so might be SG 75/76.

Does this mean that they have dispensed with the strictly alternating boy-girl-boy-girl sequence every year?

I was always in two minds about that policy - fair for equality of opportunity, but unfair if a manifestly deserving candidate could not become SG because it was not their gender's turn that year.

I agree about the doubts about the system. I had thought that too.

I really don’t know which Houses are now for boys and which for girls!

Do we think that getting a puffed-up reputation at one's grandiose boarding school is necessarily a good thing? It was said of (I think) the poet Rupert Brooke that he left school and college "magnificently unprepared for the long littleness of life".

michael scuffil wrote: Wed May 21, 2014 10:20 am The following were Senior Grecians during, or just after, my time at CH.

1955/56 Alan Everest MidB
1956/57 Peter Attenborough MaB
next three, order uncertain
Geoff Hines (LaB)
Jo Thomas (LaB)
David Simon (MidA)
1960/61 John Daniel (MidA)
1961/62 Andy Barker (PeA)
1962/63 Michael Pitcher (ThB/ThA)
1963/64 Michael Smith (MidB)
1964/65 Frank Hunter (LaB)
1965/66 Mark Cousins (MaA)
1966/67 David Norgrove (ThB)

Of these, David (now Lord) Simon and John (now Sir John) Daniel have since indubitably joined the ranks of the great and the good (MidA in their day was not nicknamed 'School House' for nothing). David Norgrove doesn't have a handle to his name, but was Mrs Thatcher's secretary, so maybe we can assign him to the fairly great and fairly good. Mark Cousins has a Wikipedia entry (which he may have written himself).
No-one who had anything to do with Mrs Thatcher can be remotely described as great or good.

As current CH students are not permitted to use or post on the CH Forum, I've removed the posts but the factual content is included here, as this was useful and interesting in answer to Old Blues questions above:-
21/22 Jin Samson (Middleton / Gr W)
22/23 Maddie Loveless (Barnes / Gr E)
23/24 Zaphaneth Puplampu (Middleton / Gr W)
24/25 Hoyeon Chang (Peele A / Gr W)
(Admin note - the school avoid sharing the names of current pupils online, hence have removed the current Senior Grecian from this list - JT)

Since the 19/20 year it has been andre (boy), amber (girl), jin (boy), maddie (girl), zaph (boy), hoyeon (boy), hetty (girl) so 2 boys in a row (23-25).
