Mark Thomas on bbc r4

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Wild, those guyes were wild, man. How stupid. Not that I would ever condone stealing, but if you're going to steal something, steal something good. Like a stuffed panda or something. I mean, no imagination!

My mother described Mark Thomas as a thinking man's anarchist. True.

There was a guy on my year who used to nick stuff to order. he eventually got caught and expelled. I won't mention his name...

I seem to remeber some of his more audacious 'lifts' included a set of golf clubs and a large wood chopping axe.

I can't condone the acts, but it's quite impressive to remove such bulky items without being collared.

he wins a scholarship as part of the “deserving poor” to study at an elite school in Sussex. The snub of upper class students  is partially offset by the wisdom of a drama teacher [DNP?] who helps to transform the herbert into half arty-boy (drama student convinced of his god-given talent) by exposing him to the works of Bertolt Brecht.

whatever fits the "image" I suppose....

When I last saw Mark it was about 3 years ago. His stage act at the time contained a send up of a "certain type of very vocal liberal" who want 'something' to be done about things. However he did it in a PERFECT send up of DN-P in full exploding rant mode. DN-P loved Mark and we had a very long chat about him and CH after the show. I think he has very confused thoughts about his time at CH, much like every one of us. He was after all on a show where he was asked to be entertaining, so he had to have some stories and make it sound like they are worth telling. I think he was fair about the school, I mean I have heard MUCH worse attacks from old Blues
