been there
had the bank screaming
had the kids screaming
am still screaming
as there are still bills to pay!
an arm and a leg for a decent education - hmm wonder why so many people now send their offspring to private education... nothing to do with the fact that the state system lets so many of us down???????
My dear wife Jane and I put our kids thru state education at primary school and would, politically, like to have gone the same way for secondary schools but having seen the so-called best ones in London I am afraid that to have sent them top any would be cruel
I don't know anyone who has done so without regretting it
What REALLY annoys me is that there is not a tax break for people who decide to pay for their kids education
Nor do we get any rebates!
The only reason mine went to private was that the LEA of Glos has one of the poorest records in the country. They told me Sarah WASN'T Dyslexic, but thick and stupid and would never amount to anything (she's the one who has got into Leeds Uni {not the met} to study Human Genetics -Hmm) and that Chris was very bright and would "go places" (he's the one still being a pizza delivery boy aged 22......??)
However, both needing some form of special needs was not about to be catered for - hence the education that costs. (and costs and costs). Sarah has commented that I could have left her in state education, she would probably be pregnant and no where near any University and I would have no debts and could live a less than frugal life - however, I believed in her and she got the help she needed - and Leeds will continue it on.
out of the mouths of babes - err and teenagers?!

My daughter came home from school on Friday with a letter from her English teacher. It was only half a page long. In that letter there were 7 spelling mistakes and this lady is supposed to be guiding my daughter through her GCSE?
There is only one thing that drives me crazy and that is text language.
Youngsters may find it easier to text like that but I loathe it. It takes me forever to work out what they are trying to say to me sometimes!
