I have no friends anyway - not the sort to spend Christmas with
My family are miserable and there aren't many of them
all the ones that live in England are going out to lunch somewhere near Bognor Mortis and I'm not invited
otherwise I've a distant relative (father's cousin) in Inverness, an uncle in Toronto and an aunt somewhere in southern Spain

Well we were thinking of plucking an old tramp off the streets at Christmas, but they seem to be in short supply these days .........
And, a propos of nothing at all really, (except perhaps the topic being discussed), I continue to be singularly disturbed by Blondie's use of the apostrophe in the title itself . Is she not, in fact ,referring to some deep psychological needs of Mr Plum to have a party (perhaps to restore some of his lost youth and vigour). If so, there has been a great deal of misunderstanding caused, no doubt, by our willingness to apply a degree of rather over-generous allowance for her idiosyncratic use of the English language. Certainly, I had understoood that it was our need to have a party at the Plums that was under consideration ......... now, I am not so sure.

You've made me feel really sad now ! What will you do on the festive day ?
I'm supposed to be at family meal 2 on Boxing day somewhere in Sussex. Last year there were no trains on Boxing Day. This year National Rail Enquiries (bless them!) won't know until the new timetable comes out on Dec 9th!!! whether or not there'll be Boxing day trains.
And my family organised this at the start of August and expect me to be organised too...

I wasn't aware that my youth or vigour had been lost...DavebytheSea wrote:Well we were thinking of plucking an old tramp off the streets at Christmas, but they seem to be in short supply these days .........

Merest speculation, Old Chap! (and in any case those with deep psychological needs don't always know that they have them. It often takes another, like Blondie, to perceive it.)Great Plum wrote:I wasn't aware that my youth or vigour had been lost...DavebytheSea wrote:Well we were thinking of plucking an old tramp off the streets at Christmas, but they seem to be in short supply these days .........

Incidentally where is Blondie, anyway? Has Ruth led her down the paths of the damned that she too is now a lost soul?

Yes! sorry about that! My square brackets launched themselves about all over the place - no doubt to demonstrate that they had not lost any youth and vigour (unlike some of us,eh, Plum?).Great Plum wrote:And DBTS, interesting way of quoting there!
I've now disciplined them.
