call for limericks

Of course, funny things can happen down here in Cornwall, but bearing in mind the high ethical standards imposed by our stern moderator (stern as in serious not like the back end of my boat) .......

There was a young lady from Bude
Who went for a swim in the Mediterranean
A shark, up it come
Takes a bite out of her left big toe
Don't you think it was terribly rude?

Peele A (in the far western reaches of the Avenue) is to be the home of Jonathan when he leaves his beloved Cornwall to become a New Dep in September.

Oh Dear! When the urge gets you, you don't seem to be able to stop it just pouring out! Anyway, this obviously pre-dates any rear extension or refurbishment when there were some diabolical outside bogs at the back of the houses.

Two Blues took two loos to Toulouse
(In case there were none there to use)
For learning at Housey
That however lousy
The loos, you can't always just choose to refuse.

Though this thread is great, I admit
I don't like the 'compulsory' bit
for finding a rhyme
when you don't have the time
makes ones limerick sound a bit shi..... well, substandard anyway.

Great to see all the contributions lately. I chose llimericks because they're short and concise- but the thread could be re named to include all kinds of verse. Perhaps there is a sonneteer out there who feels rejected . . . if so, please post anyway, especially if you have CH as your topic.Or . . .

It's more that the writing's in verse
than the 'limerick', for that could be worse;
such as haikus or sonnets,
(or other such vomit)
but "compulsory rhyming"'s a curse.

it's not for myself i complain,
but the others who feel some disdain,
such as JT or Plum,
or the other board-bums,
who find all this rhyming a pain.

It's not that i dislike the rhyme,
(it's fantastic for killing spare time),
but when they're on here,
it's not fair to jeer,
for 'not rhyming' is hardly a crime!

Who hadn't had time
To create a good rhyme
So forget it and go have a beer.

Re all CH topics per se
that comment on things that we may
Have memories in mind
Whether cruel or kind
I hope to see lots more today

It's not that I'm slow and dim-witted -
it's those against which I am pitted,
who all have the skill
to show that they will
produce better rhymes that this really poor effort at a lymeric...
