Good God! You are indeed a fast lady, Ruth - I am a little slow, myself and had missed the astonishing fact that 2000 and 1000 were in fact altogether different happenings which happened in but the twinkling of an eye..

Why should scones be round? It would be far more economical of time and effort if they were of a shape that tesselates so that you do not have to re-roll the dough. Also the scones from the first rolling always taste best!
