Imagine my shock when I found that there were other people who shared my birthday and that one of them was my nurse-maid!
Add to that the fact that at CH everyone gets to punch you the same number of times that is your house number on your birthday. How charming is that! Thank the Gods of fortune that I was Maine B 7.
I think I was sent to CH because I was a shy only child.

Like you I learned fast...

Lucky Col B didn't have the same punching routine because I was Col B 49!

In my day the shyest of the kids often seemed to have the hardest time

I was totally ignorant of the facts of life as was my poor brother and in those days someone would inevitably come up to you on your first day and ask if you are a prostitute

My bro said yes and had to endure people screaming "Prosty Thomson Tuppence-a-go!" at him during rugger matches. For some reason I gave the correct answer. It was a 50-50 chance for both of us.

Then you went up to senior houses

Lamb A / B
Coleridge A / B

Luckily birthday punching didn't continue in senior end, I was Mid B 32

A strange aberration in the school's educational thinking that lasted even a shorter time than sending the girls off to Hertford for a bit.

Was it a pain having to share a birthday with your youngest brother?
