Not as far as I know.Great Plum wrote:Have some been deleted then? I thought my post count had gone down!
I'm just suggesting that if the 'pruning' of earlier pages of threads which exceed 5 or 10 pages might result in relevant information being lost.
It could even result in the entire point of the thread being lost (and not just through aimless banter!).

Perhaps not, but my point is that, in a thread which runs to many pages, the original purpose of the thread could easily be lost if the first (and probably most relevant) posts get dumped.Katharine wrote:I didn't think there was a suggestion of deleting anything in the CH Stuff sections.Richard Ruck wrote:P.S. That's an example of why it's not always a good idea to delete old pages in particular threads.
In this particular instance, a question has been asked on page 12 or 13 (I forget which) to which a reasonable answer can be found in the very first post of the thread. If the earlier pages had been dumped, poor Plum would have to re-write his original post, and we all know how pushed for time he is!

This could just as easily happen in the non-C.H. bit.

If she hasn't already ben mentioned, I believe Catherine Llewellyn Smith worked at CH (probably Hertford) for a while, but it may have been under her married name, which I don't know. She read Classics at Uni, so I guess that is what she taught.

Never mind - Midget's managed to get it back on topic!Scone Lover wrote:To be honest Richard, it was more an attempt to get the thread back on topic again. Not a very subtle one I grant you but it was a simple attempt to pull this back on topic and it seems to have failed.
