Yes!
I do admit a 'slight' bias though, singing with Grecians East (and listening to our plentiful applause )
However, as a member (and only one of quite a few) of Schola and East, I do feel perhaps slightly offended by the ease with which it is alleged that West have all of schola, all the good singers, etc. Perhaps West 'ought' to have won, considering who they had - maybe the choice of song was not the best... BCWG was clearly more impressed by East, as shown by his immediate comments :)

Before measuring the winner by the volume of cheering though, the attempts of East and West to 'out-gracious' the other side, in the volume of raucous cheering, ought to be taken into consideration. Perhaps what mrs c. is in fact saying is that East were clearly gracious than West. Result!

You`re entitled to your own opinion Mark, just as I am - and I know what I heard from amongst the audience - and as I was near GRW and I heard much more applause for them, your comment doesn`t really hold water!!!!!

PLease note that I didn`t say ALL of Schola are in GRW!

Oh, and for your information, GRW have certainly NEVER been encouraged to "out-gracious" the other side (whatever that may mean!) and if they rose as one in applause then it was totally spontaneous!!!

(Trust an "Eastie" to talk like that about the other house - a "Westie would never do that, much more refined!!!!!! :D :D )

I remember the singing comp! It came back in my Grecians and MAF got well into it! We did that Elton John and Kiki Dee song 'Don't go breaking my heart' as the group song - we won! Was ace! I do remember a few of us might have possibly had a couple of glasses of wine before hand to calm the nerves! MAF and Dr Madders got us to practice every night for weeks and GrE took the micky out of us so much but they were laughing on the other side of their faces when we won the close harmony song as well! There was about 8 of us who sang 'Bird's do it, bees do it' - was such a laugh!
