I have now found, having been driving for a couple of weeks now that i really wasnt told how to drive in the real world! Not once was i told how to reverse out of tricky spots or how to get into a bay space that allows you no room to reverse or swing round into it therefore resulting in a little kurb mountaing! or for the idiots on the road who do not realise that when changing direction or going round a round a bout its genralryy useful if you give us the people behing a clue as to where on earth are you going rather than just drift infront of me!!!!!!

Exactly.
You were taught how to pass the test - not how to drive as a licenced driver. It is very different and does take practice. Hence the suggestion that you look at one of the ROSPA local centres; they will teach you real driving for free like looking under cars for hidden pedestrians, at the faces of approaching drivers in case they swing across in front of you ........

ooh no L plates are seen my some drivers as a liecence to do whatever they can to intimedate the driver etc.!!!!

b) Mr Plod is very likelky to stop you if you don't have an adult passenger on the grounds that a provisional licenmce holder must have an appropriate full licence holder with him/her at all times. If you don't and he needs a few arrests he will have you for wasting police time (and anything else he can think of.
An arrest gives him the power to enter your home and search/examine / remove anything for examination and use as evidence for possible subsequent charges.

Even make a negative comment about a police action/inaction annd they may be round forcing an entry trying to terrify innocent women and children. We never did find out who the barsteward was except he had pips.

In South Australia I believe that you now have to display P plates for two years after getting your licence.

Pass test, get granted provisional licence, which means zero alcohol when driving, but I don't think that there is any limit on speed.

In Queensland Learner Drivers are not required to display L plates, apparently because of the negative attitudes of other drivers to Learners. It's a bit of a drag for the teenagers who live in Southern Qld and regularly cross the border for school or surfing, as NSW requires them to display L plates.

The actual display of 'L' plates by a qualified driver is not in fact, illegal, otherwise all driving instructors would be commiting an offence when travelling between clients.....

HOWEVER.. a young person driving with 'L' plates might well attract the attention of Monsieur Plod !
