Actually.. don't knock it too much! I entered my road and the name of the road in which my friends live in Menton, in the South of France (so, Eastern Close, East Preston and Chemin des Rigaudis, Menton). In a split second it came up with the route, map, and time it would take. The only 'gap' was between Dover and the coast of Northern France.....
I was quite impressed. But I am not swimming for two million miles to get from the USA to the UK!

I have just queried the route from my home to my daughter's home in the Adelaide Hills. Route flashed up immediately, and I thought that Google might have discovered a short cut for me, but when I consulted the map adjacent to the directions I realised that the route given involves driving off the edge of the freeway to land on a B road about 30 feet below.
Might try it when the Lusty Laser is finally committed to the great wrecker's yard in the sky
