gemmygemmerson wrote:Wow. That's really interesting. We got the entrant's pack and the avalanche of forms and we're currently going through them all. They're all really intense but I suppose that's really necessary when you're at boarding school.
Also not surprised you've been allocated Col B, of the original entrants on the 2nd form, there's only 4 left at the last count...

Ouch. Not a very popular house then. :?

We're reading the list of things you have to have and they say a duvet and pillows. Do we really have to bring these?, I thought they were provided.
Also, it has a list for all of the school sports kit. Do I need to have every Item of this sports kit, or can I use a set I already own. Including one pair of traiers instead of the two they say I need?.

You won`t need 2 pairs of trainers! We made that mistake with my elder daughter - bought exactly what was on the list.

Basic sports kit probably ok as long as its more or less school colours -i.e. navy shorts/trousers, white shirt. But don`t quote me on that!!
Oh, and you`ll need the house shirts for house matches - but may be able to get them 2nd hand - contact the matron perhaps?

And yes, you`ll need duvet etc - school provides mattress cover and sheet - that`s all I think. (would you really want to be sleeping under a duvet that "belonged" to several other people???)

Thank God for that. Though I may have to buy new ones anyway, I've had these for years and they have the back of them falling apart.

We may just get everything on the list that isn't ridiculous ( like 2 pairs of trainers ).

The clothing measurements form. There are two and one is to be handed in on new entrant's day. Is that the same as the induction week?. the other is to be sent in August. Does that mean that we won't go straight into Uniform for the induction week since they don't have the measurements?.

Ah. I was under the impression that we did. No matter.

I really hope that the house will be finished in september, especially since it will be newly done. If it isn't, what is actualy in the 'prep' block and what is it used for otherwise.

You probably are. I've only been twice of course and that was the open day and the interview.

"prep" block has for the last 6 years been used to decant houses undergoing refurbishment, the first being Lamb some 6(?) years ago now. It was also used as the "classrooms" and "dorms" during the filming of Rock School!

Thus, once again it is a shame that I never really watched Rock School.

My freind is going into Thornton A. We're really excited.

JR, Gemma. Definitely scary ghost. Into very nasty things like kicking innocent balls to kingdom come and worse. Forces young girls onto the footall pitch in pouring rain. It is said he strode those rooms like a colossus and hasn't yet escaped. Beware the ghost of JR; you need to be especially careful as you change - that mirror could just break; worse things might have happened but this is a family show
