As far as damage is concerned Janet, the police would have absolutely no interest, the car park being private and the property, (presumably), of J.S.S.

As far as the man is concerned, it seems likely he IS guilty of an offence.

Threatening and abusive behaviour.
Behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace.... just for starters.

So if your car-washing witness can sorroborate what was actually done and said, why not pop into Horsham nick ? I take it you jotted down the registration number of the van ?

Don't worry Janet.. I would not have written anything down, either. It must have been a very shocking occasion, and in shock one cannot always think straight!
Angela's case that an insurance company might look at any related damage on your car (and find none) would be valid.. but my guess is that beyond all the bluster, this is a dead case for your protagonist. Let's hope so.
And as I said last night.. the fact that you wrote things down for us, while they were still fresh in your mind, would be of significance if the matter ever did go any further. But I bet it won't....

I don`t think I was thinking at all, let alone thinking straight.
In fact it`s all a bit of a blur now - am almost beginning to wonder if I imagined it all.
At least I know I caused no damage whatsoever and my car is undamaged , so if anything does happen..... perhaps there was nothing more to it than van-man who was having a bad day - I hope so anyway!!

You didn't imagine it, Janet. You wrote to us about it .. and the record of that will be in your favour if you ever do need to respond to something. But I reckon that this is one of those unsettling occasions which may cause you a few sleepless nights pro tem until it all fades into the distance. My guess is - as I have said before - that as far as VanMan is concerned, he's moved on ... possibly to a more gullible victim. Hang in there!
