Aha! Now I see Mary, English sideboards, American sideburns!

Incidentally I read somewhere of the rather charming slang for those magnificent Edwardian sideboards as "b*ggers grips"!

Is that not where the nickname 'Gripper' for Mr Thingy who was housemaster of Mid B came from? He sported a generous pair of the auburn variety iirc.
