I just re-read my induction pack because I'm bored and I don't want to focous on Stats and one thing confused me.
I may be stuck in the stoneage in terms of understanding Housey terms but what on earth is a 'Tuck Locker?'.
Hope you all had a good time today and I hope you Josh had a nice time Scouting!........ as long as you didn't kill anyone that is.

Everyone has a locker (assuming it's the same as when I was at CH) used for keeping food (tuck) you may have. In BaB they were down near the changing rooms at the back of the house. They weren't used much because stuff would go missinggemmygemmerson wrote:I may be stuck in the stoneage in terms of understanding Housey terms but what on earth is a 'Tuck Locker?'.

The tuck lockers will, I believe, be in the Day Room of Col (since they're keeping the DRs now). Personally, I think they're a waste of time not because of their security (or lack thereof), but because the keys are far too easy to lose and it means if you want food during prep etc you have to go downstairs and be sent back up. Although you're strictly not allowed to, most people keep at least some food in their rooms - tuck searches are both rare for us seniors and also dreadfully easy to get round - e.g. hide it in your bags.
Of course, I'm not advocating rule-breaking...but there are some things which are pointless.
Don't worry, nobody died...except for me at 6:30pm yesterday. Having stayed up for very nearly 36 hours...but in the 13th hour of my death, I woke up and went to breakfast
Now I'm awake!

A Mother Speaks!
Dear Josh, it was a pleasure to meet and chat to you yesterday.
Most interesting!
However, this sleep deprivation is not a good idea. You appeared fatigued to an extreme degree
!!
This old mother and ex RGN is concerned.
you say. But anyway -

Sleep some more!. I'm just astounded how you can go so long without sleep. You must have been like a zombie.
I'm glad nobody died. Some of my worries have finally dissappeared.
Tuck locker?. Is THAT what it was for. I honestly didn't know. But I doubt I will be using mine very often, NOT because I'll be hoarding it in my room!, but because I don't hoard food. Saying that now, I could be wrong.
Yay!. Day Rooms........but what precisely is their function?. Is it just a sort of common room for the house?.

Nah - I'm ok now! I was utterly zombified eventually - even managed to nod off during I Saw The Lord...though the Foundation Hymn managed to revive me a bit...

Essentially, yes - as well as a meeting room for roll calls etc. Now then, I'm off to get the Silly to find out what happened to Finarfin's sons.

Is that because you don't get the food in general, or that you only get it when you want it?Gemma wrote: I don't hoard food

I don't hoard food because simply, once I've bought it I usualy don't resist temptation and just eat it all.
NOOOOO! You cheat. You can't get out Silly....... I love that book.
Day rooms!.
I've sent off my financial forms, finally. I think they are a little late but we did get them sent really late to us so I'm really happy now because I am definitely going.
9 days to go!

I must point out Gemma, that my old house, and your soon to be new home is in a complete state of flux at the moment. The day-room, as was and the dorms have the builders in. All sealed up yesterday, and no-one seemed to know for sure when it'll be completed !

I suppose I can't be too annoyed since I'm not actualy living there at the moment, but still

What are they actualy doing. I've heard a few comments in regards to refurbishments but does anyone know what they are actualy doing?

I was soo not sleeping! I just lost this page since I found out other topics had been answered...
I agree, but I've only one exam, and that's both on Wednesday, and RS. But ah well.
John: The latest two houses, Thorn and Barnes, have their day rooms, so I expect Col will have them as well.
At least you get a brand new house without having to spend time in the Prep Block - my first term was spent there (as well as four weeks in LE Michelmas but that's a different story) and the only things it's good for is Christmas Party in the Big Day Room, and the
