Hello Gemma
You will get used to it! I don't remember sleeping much in my time at Hertford (except, desperately, during the hours in which we had to be in bed - although I do remember in my last two years encroaching into even those precious hours by revising by torchlight under the bedclothes after 'lights out'). But by the time I was your age I had been there for 7 years, so I was more used to the pace of life, which must have taken you by storm these last two weeks. I even remember the madness of wriggling out of the nightdress and into underwear under the bedclothes, first thing in the morning, so that one could be legitimately the first out of bed, into the bathroom, dressed and downstairs (WHY?!) - not being allowed to move out of bed until the rising bell clanged (at 7.00 a.m.?). I am sure you will enjoy your sleeping time when you get to the weekend.

Not nice to go through perhaps but I learned a couple of useful lessons from all that.Great Plum wrote:By the time I was on the Grecians and living in the Boarding House, I porbably only slept c. 5 or 6 hoursa night - it was something I was completely used to!
a) the human body can put up with far more than we expect.
b) CH gives you a high level of base fitness so that you can, for example, do "ghosters" (36 hour work sessions) and recover quickly. I suspect that it has a beneficial effect on the heart and lungs which is not lost in later life.
c) you can live on only a few hours sleep almost indefinitely but to get to that state you need to be forced to do so - as at CH.
Having more money doesn't make you happier. I have 50 million dollars
but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.
