Barclays bank..
..take 4 weeks to send a requested statement, and charge £5 for all their hard work in doing so.
I found this out yesterday, much to my disgust!
My reaction varied in both branches that I enquired in between:
"but I need it in 3 weeks, surely it can't take that long?" and "arrrgh that's crap!" followed by walking out hastily to
"I REALLY doubt that it costs £5" again followed by a rapid departure!
Also tried pointing out that as I needed it for a benefits application I didn't have any money to pay for it, but needless to say my request for them to provide a service with even a hint of compassion was fruitless.

The conduct of the banks is an absolute disgrace.
They've bribed politicians to legislate so that people are now effectively compelled to have a bank account and thus provide a captive market for their cartel.
Even worse, a moratorium has been imposed on ordinary people reclaiming immoral and unfair penalty charges until resolution of the test case whilst the banks have been permitted to carry on regardless imposing the charges!
Good to see how much fairer Society has become for the "little person" after 10 years of socialism!
At least the Tories are honest about stitching up the workers!

The trouble with Barclays online banking is that it is only available for a limited timeframe. I'm in schtuck with them, my current account having been transferred from the Woolwich in June or July, with no statements forthcoming for the interim 'gap' - during which it looks as if my account dipped by £2k. They are 'looking into it' - but so far have not asked for a payment for additional statements. I must check my next one when it comes!

I have heard that from so many quarters, JR - people having trouble over the transfer. I had occasion to go into my local Barclays on Monday (to pay in the cash collected for the NCF at Miss West's Memorial Service the day before). This was the first time I had crossed the threshold of my own bank - and the first cashier could not have been less helpful. I wasted a lot of time counting coins and notes and putting them into bags before queuing up again - fortunately I got another cashier who was more helpful but recounted all the money anyway!
For the humble customer, I think that Barclays takeover of The Woolwich is nothing but trouble......

Even I don't quite understand what Emma's problem is !
It seems that when she has to meet her mortgare payment, the money is in the account, but for some reason has to be transfered to another account before it can be paid to her mortgage company.
Needless to say, there has on occasions been a delay resulting in snotty letters and a hefty bank charge for the c0ck-up.
This surprises me somewhat, because Emma is even more vocal and sarcastic than humble little me, if that's at all possible.
Comes with being an FA coach, I suppose !

That happened to me as well. After the transfer, the first month's mortgage payment 'bounced' (probably because of the 'lost' £2k, which has still not been sorted out). They keep writing me snotty letters - I write back apologising and asking for help but they clearly don't read my letters!
