My Boy Jack

Post by Mid A 15 »

Did anybody else watch this?

I thought it was excellent and David Haig and Daniel Radcliffe(?spelling) were very well cast as Rudyard Kipling and Jack.

Son is fascinated by all that stuff so we had it on, I thought I would fall asleep but it was riveting.

David Haig wrote it and has been trying to get it made for 20 years. I think it was just waiting for Daniel Radcliffe to be ready to play Jack.

... Yes ! Quiet enjoyed it !

Young Mr Radcliffe has developed into a great actor.

Apparently, he was brilliant in Equus (?sp)

And doesn't David Haig bear a striking likeness to Joseph Rudyard Kipling.

(Rudyard was his second Christian name !)

I watched it and was very impressed. I read an article in The Times on Saturday about David Haig's conviction of a close resemblance between his father and Rudyard Kipling, having been given a biography of Kipling when playing on Broadway some 20+ years before. He certainly felt a great empathy for the character and that came through very well - as did the outside (and I suspect also inside) scenes actually being filmed at Batemans. And as for Mr. Potter.. yes he has certainly grown up!
Although this was the film (and it took 22 years to come to fruition) there was previously a stage play (the person - OB - who was with me on Sunday had seen that, some years ago) but I don't know whether it reached the West End or who was playing in it.

I think Ben means Rupert Grint who cannot hold a candle to Mtr Radcliffe as an actor.

Daniel Radcliffe has just been on Breakfast TV s they are filming book 6 (Half-Blood Prince) and apparently JK's disclosure of Dumbledor's sexuality has caused great amusement with Michael Gambon (who plays Dumbledore) making the most of it.

Dumbledore is gay...?

I now have awful images of him in Fiona's fishnets.

Yes he is, but he already wears sil, velvet, lace and brocade so there is no need for fishnets.

Apparently Michael Gambon takes great pleasure in really camping it up on read-throughs which has the whole cast crying with laughter.

Are you still a free man, JR, or can you arrange visitor permits for all of us?
