The only name there I can't place is Jean MacArthur, there are a couple that I did not realise were in the First XI, but then one of them must have replaced Wendy Lee at Christmas.

Don't know what Miss Richards would have thought of embroidery on card - but I like it! Glad you liked it too!

Jean McArthur was in UVth in 2's in 65/66 so three years behind you Katharine. A tall elegant straigh-backed girl with dark brown hair in a ponytail. IIRC she left at the end of Lower VI and went on to do physiotherapy.

We had Judith Hodgson in 2's as well who was a fantastic hockey player. After all these people left we didn't do so well in house competitions.

Belated birthday greetings Kerren.

Been a couple of days since I've been able to get on here.

It seems my extended family has been using the full resources of the NHS since the weekend !

Maybe I could get said photo scanned and put up on the Forum --- but not til next week as the 'study' (with the PC and scanner etc) is now a rather tightly packed bedroom for the duration of my guests' sojourn chez moi. And then I might need to ask someone to post it up for me (Mary.....?!).
Had a little hiccup today.. the butcher phoned to say they had forgotten to order the two fresh turkeys I had intended to pick up from them tomorrow (Friday). They had some smaller ones, frozen, and would be prepared to 'fast defrost' several for me... AArrggh. I don't think so. But someone was on my side. The other butcher/fishery [actually a Farm Shop with fresh and freshly cooked produce] (from where I collected the whole fresh salmon today) just happened to have a 7 kg fresh turkey 'crown' in the fridge, surplus to the shop's delicatessen's requirements for today. Costtafortune, but hey I am only 60 once!

Where are you holding the party, Kerren? It sounds to me as if you are doing too much!

Our Church Hall, Katharine (for a measly payment of £20 for the evening, in recognition of my services to said Church....). And don't worry... not only have I paid for my cleaning lady and her friend to come and 'help' at the party, but also we will be surrounded by so many Old Blue and Church friends, that I myself will probably find myself swanning around with nothing to do except to direct operations from a great height, and also to be sociable (erm... sitting down. Definitely at odds with the image of the athletic 18 year old!). Total nos now 108 ..... eek!
This time tomorrow (Friday) there will be half a dozen Old Blues here at my house for a sausage and baked potato/salad/pickles supper. My little feline companions will have gone to their hotel for three days, but Willow (the dog) is going to be so excited by all these new friends who are going to be coming to our house. I can't wait!

I don't remember Heather Wansey (I'm guessing she left before I started), but I do seem to recall a cup/shield for the best all-round sportswoman, that I think might have been called the Wansey Cup. Did Heather (or more likely her parents) endow a trophy when she left?

I do remember Sue Evans and Philippa Yorke, plus although I don't think I remember Susan Flood, her younger sister Jeanne was a few years ahead of me in 5s. I think she was also a good hockey player.

Heather was one of three Wansey sisters, Rosemary, Elizabeth & Heather ( also twin brothers at Horsham) I don't know whether all five were at CH at any one time. The girls were all very good sportswomen, Rosemary was in my year but in 8s, I think she went into nursing.

Yes I think that all five Wansey progeny were at CH together, at some time.
Heather left the same year as I did - 1966.
Libby was then I think the last Wansey to leave CH

David and Jonathan were twins (Ma A and then La B) and left CH in 1971.

They were in the Prep prior to Maine A so arrived at CH c1963 at a guess aged 9 or 10.

Jonathan was my "nursemaid" in Maine A when I was a squit.

I believe they are both headmasters now.

I think the family came from Darlington because the boys supported Darlington FC which lacked "street cred" at the time. As a Charlton Athletic fan I could empathise with that lack of "street cred!"
