As reported in The Daily Torygraph today Matthew Pinsent claims to have seen (at the last Olympics) children who had clearly been beaten for not performing as well as their coaches expected.I believe they were Chinese. That's the way to do it...Sport it's such good clean fun.

OK - It's not 'sour grapes', and I know they are the host Nation, but I still find it strange the Chinese are SO far ahead in the medals table !

There's a very simple explanation:

China has entered 639 athletes in 28 sports (38 disciplines)
USA has entered 596 in 27 sports
Australia has entered 433 in 26 sports
GB has entered 312 in 20 sports

And the medal table at the time of writing?

1) China
2) USA
3) Australia
4) GB

And as I'd hate to miss an opportunity to bash the French, France are 11th despite having entered 323 athletes (11 more than GB) in 23 sports (3 more than GB)
