A text message from the newly-married woman! A terse reminder!

"According to your CH Forum they are waiting for news of wedding!"

This means that she has been reading this thread all along! So I can first highjack it to say "Thank you for being a wonderful daughter. Thank you for being truthful, tactful, responsible, strongminded and sympathetic. I haven't been much of an Alphamummy, but you've put up with me wonderfully well.From your first day at school when you put your hand into that of Mrs Gibson and never looked back, I vowed that if there were ever a DR, a Millie or a SWSNBN in your life I would do something fast, and I'm happy to say that you have grown up confident of your many abilities. You looked so beautiful on your wedding day - but then you always do. What style and glamour you possess! But it comes from within. Be happy in your married life.

Thank you Munch and Susannah for sharing your wonderful day with us. My monitor also took on a very fuzzy appearance as I was reading: remedied with the aid of a soggy hanky.

Munch: I made the same vow to myself that you did about not letting any teacher, Scout Leader or neighbour bully my children, and hope that on the occasions when I have lived up to it I have spared not only Jess and Mitch, but any others under the bullies' influence from further abuse.

Have to go and re-read the wonderful account of the especially wonderful day. May need to grab the bottle of Lemon Oil first

Yes I have just read this wonderful account in my hotel in Seoul. It was great too hear about cousin Monica in action and

Sat 28th March.

The monks come round for breakfast at some unearthly hour and hang around for ages doing monk business, chanting, banging gongs, etc. Ceremonies will be over between 11-12 (I hope) then it's all off to my pal's boat (big old wooden thing with an engine, not a sail in sight, sorry DBTS - room for about 50) for an afternoon of seaborne fun and frolics and possibly a beer or two.

"Ravishingly pretty" - trying to think how to convey that in Thai without being boring (I can manage 'very beautiful').

I long to know what you will feed the monks. What does their chanting and gong-banging do? It sounds too lovely! What does the bride wear? 28 March already marked in next year's diary!

It went something like this... "Angela said you were so beautiful that if you were a meal you would be the most delicious she'd ever eaten."

It seemed to do the trick. You'll just have to take my word for this, but you can't go too far wrong with food analogies here!

One thing you can be sure of, the monks will not be getting (or wanting) eggs and bacon! Fishy rice soup and something spicy will undoubtedly feature. How anyone can eat that first thing in the morning is beyond me.

Mind you, you Hertford girls seem awfully fond of kedgeree...

I don't think we were when we were there, but it's cheap, quick and nutritious.Well it's not cheap the way I make it but it could be.

That's so kind of you! I would absolutely adore to attend, and, if I were fortunate enough to find an incredibly well-paid job and could afford to come to Thailand... alas!

According to several books I've read about Buddhism, a monk shouldn't eat after midday? So you'd better brew plenty of the breakfast fish mixture!

Kedgeree was one of the better teatime things. As has Mary, I've often made an enhanced version - delicious! I wonder if the monks would like it?
