Rock School reborn

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Well Josh - at least you were brave enough to do it - I was one of the Grecians at the time of filming and had the definite attitude of 'How embarrassing is this - better walk the other way'. Wish I had been less self-righteous now and gotten myself on the blinking TV!

At least it will haunt you for years! I for one enjoyed watching it, and it is good to see how the people involved have turned out!

Should have been more on the band I say! :)

He's a man of two sides; he has the biggest wall you've ever seen.

In front of the camera he's exactly as you see him, and off the camera he's a bit like that too. Particularly at the beginning, but he toned down and came more out of his shell as the weeks went on. I'm not sure which party was more nervous of the other at first, but he really came down to earth. We noticed it I'd say by the end of the first week: on the Friday we were allowed to call him Gene and not Mr. Simmons, and then on the Saturday he came and ate school tea with us, which was quite worlding for us.

So I think, that if it weren't for the persona he puts on, he'd be a really nice guy to hang out with. But of course, if it weren't for that persona he wouldn't have made his millions.

Are you still in touch with Gene/Mr Simmons/Kiss, Josh?
It would be nice to think that he had been persuaded to share a smidgeon of his millions with either you or with CH?! - no, seriously, apologies, that is a catty question. I saw the episode when you all - and Mary Ireland - went to visit him in America and the visit appeared to be very relaxed, congenial, and mutually respectful. It would be nice to think that somewhere in his high living self-promoting life he had 'grounded' somewhere special, recognised it, and had wanted to hang on somehow to his CH experience. I guess he did not have The Charge delivered to him, though.....

As far as you and your year group are concerned I personally am very glad that I have the DVD - and despite the fact that the series can be downloaded as people have described, the DVDs are still selling at high prices on e.g. eBay. Do you/the school get Royalties?

Interesting. Am currently reading the autobiography of Mike Oldfield and he says that being famous means you end up being totally on your own. You cannot trust people because you don't know whether it is you or your money they are after. The only "friends" you end up with are the people you work with, and even they may go running to the papers. He found this out by painful experience.
An interesting story, and one you should check out.
Very true. Such experience as I have is that they simply never mention their music interests.
Although I realised that he had a good knowledge of popular music I had absolutely no idea about my best man's background until long after I was married and we were returning from his wedding abroad; I found him jamming with a well known group and he only then admitted that the group he had been in had a number 1 and a couple of others in the top 10. (He became CEO of a large pharmaceuticals company)

My wife worked for over 10 years with a woman who is singer in a group which had one number 1 and her husband has written a number of songs for well known UK and US artists. To the public he is simply a very successful sports teacher. We eventually found out (after my wife retired) by accident from mutual friends.
Having more money doesn't make you happier. I have 50 million dollars
but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.
