Color test....These are the things we're supposed to do to remove the cholesterol around our brain & try to slow up Alzheimer's. It took me a couple times before I could finally tell this brain of mine to concentrate on the color and not what it said. A great test, do it until you get 100%! Bet you can't get 100% on the first try! However, I'm rooting for you. This is pretty neat! See how you do with the colors! Have fun! It takes an average of 5 tries to get to 100%. Follow the directions! It's harder than it seems, as it should be! A brain wake-upper for today!

are you suitably disabled and desperate?
I don't want to start a one-item thread and this came to mind when I looked up the cuttings including the odd name U P God (see separate thread). Perhaps appropriate when there are long queues for each job
An advert in the Financial Times from a large petroleum company was for accounting assistants. The last line read:
"[Company name] welcomes se* with all suitably disabled people regardless of size of bank balance"
I understand that the company was somewhat displeased with its advertising agents!

Having more money doesn't make you happier. I have 50 million dollars
but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.

This is a piece about how the newspapers have 'dumbed down' between 1979 and the present day. I found it very interesting.
I remember my parents (Liberals to the core as well) cancelling the Daily Torygraph when it had a picture of Elizabeth Taylor on the front. They lasted about 2 weeks, then went back to it.
I am more of an "Indy" girl myself as some on here have noted.

Now nearly 20million, and I have watched it 3 times on the trot with the hairs on the back of my neck right up, and tears running down my face.

I'm amazed nobody has pointed to her 1999 recording of "Cry me a River" for charity.englishangel wrote:Now nearly 20million, and I have watched it 3 times on the trot with the hairs on the back of my neck right up, and tears running down my face.

IMO that shows that her recent appearance was no flash in the pan. Somebody has done an incredible job in teaching / mentoring her

Re: Interesting or funny links
Apparently she is totally self taught. The first link points to "Cry me a River". She has spent the last few years caring for her sick mother and since she died 2 years ago had not sung until someone pointed the producers of BGT in her direction. She didn't apply herself.

Re: Interesting or funny links
It's going to be a tear-jerker when they follow her lifestory later in the show then. My best friend's daughter is in a dance group called the Hot Honeyz which are also through to the televised semi-finals (although they haven't been shown doing the auditions on the show yet - maybe tonight?) She was also in the Mandy Ellen Dancers that got through to the televised semi-finals last year. For obvious reasons I'll be rooting for them, but I must confess I'd also like to see this lady do well. And Stavros Flatly
The only one I don't like so far is the lady who took her top off! I mean, for goodness sake, the winner is going to be performing in front of the Queen! Maybe Prince Phillip would enjoy her act, but not the Queen!! I think it's wasted a space on the televised semi-finals shows that could have been taken up by someone with real talent, not just someone who 'flops them out!!'
