I also recal that we had a conversation about Bisley and how ex-Army types tried to boss everyone around. You also listened to me talking on WW2 for about 30 minutes.John, If you are the chap with gout, we actually spoke on Saturday, because you told me about it.

I left David at Wood Lane tube station and wished him well.kerrensimmonds wrote:Glad you enjoyed Schola Cantorum in the evening, David. I had crumbled and gone home by then. It would be good to have a report of that concert?

When we lived in the US a friend of my son had an Irish grandmother. We were waiting for the children at the school bus-stop one day and I commented on her accent and asked her how long she had been in the US, 57 years and she was 76 years old. I expressed surprise and said she sounded like a girl I had done my midwifery training with, from Belmullet. "But that is where I am from" said the old lady.
sorry
Going to Westport tomorrow on the way to Galway. Achill Island a bit off the route but we might visit on the way back.Jo wrote:englishangel wrote:Completelyjhopgood wrote:

Look about 10 miles virtually due south from Belmullet and you'll see Achill. That's where I was born.
Yes, I felt a bit guilty about going off topic again!DavebytheSea wrote:I think tomorrow I may move these into a new "I love Ireland thread" so as to keep OB Day focused. Is that OK?
