Such a happy day! The sun shone, the band played, the Grecians Gifted, and the kids and staff were so, so welcoming. And the evening concert was simply stunning.

I left David at Wood Lane tube station and wished him well.
I am now in Belmullet, West Ireland, a long way from both CH and Cornwall.
On subject, I very much enjoyed Saturday except that there were so many people to chat to that I missed chapel and was late for both meals and the evening concert. Probably a good sign.
As David said, the evening concert was great, especially one part where the choir had some in the centre and some up in the balcony, where I sat as a latecomer. To hear the top notes hit apparently without effort, was spine tingling.
Amazing.
DBTS has been designated to write up the concert for the OBM.

We were waiting for the children at the school bus-stop one day and I commented on her accent and asked her how long she had been in the US, 57 years and she was 76 years old. I expressed surprise and said she sounded like a girl I had done my midwifery training with, from Belmullet. "But that is where I am from" said the old lady.

Going to Westport tomorrow on the way to Galway. Achill Island a bit off the route but we might visit on the way back.

Westport is supposed to be quite a charming Georgian town, though last time I saw it, it was pouring with rain so it didn't look quite so charming. I hope the weather is better for you tomorrow.

I doubt anyone would remember us in Achill now really, Mum & Dad were there from 1956-60, though everyone would have known them at the time as he was the Church of Ireland rector. Mum, my brother and I went back a couple of years ago and Mum found a few very old people who still remembered her

The Atlantic Drive is worth it, if you have time. There is one on the island, but I understand the one on the mainland side is better.

Don't know if you know Galway already but I was there five years ago and really liked it. There is some lovely countryside between Mayo and Galway so you should enjoy the drive.
