When I was little --- 18th Cenury !
Silver napkin rings were a common (?) Christening Present for a child.
I still have mine -- Hallmarked 1928 !

:offtopic: Just for a moment -- Hallmarks can be very revealing ----
In our Family there was a certain Tradition about a Wedding Present in the 1890s
The Hallmark identified it, as having been made 1 year after the birth of the first Child -----
Motto --- Beware Hallmarks ! (I have a little book !)

So Amy, been a bit quiet here on your post and as June comes to an end there's only 4 months to go if I remembr correctly.

Have you got the something old, something new and something bleu sorted?

Give us juicy bits!

On the Silver subject --
We visited Milan on Saturday and in the Vittorio Emanuele 11 Arcade The Blessed Anne was drooling at the Prada Windows.
Opposite is a Macdonalds ! and also Silver emporium of Berlasconi( Italy's PM Empire ?) with baubles at 800 euros !
Since my elder Grand-daughter in Switzerland is "Attached" to a Berlesconi -- I wondered if we could getr a discount !
the B.A. suggested that we had better move fast --- before the PM is impeached !!!

Definitely off topic - sorry!

About ten years ago Maria won a competition on the local radio station in Leicester for which the prize was to take her mother to Milan for the weekend. So I can actually picture the arcade which Neill wrote about, but my memory is principally of a whole window full of Ferrari! We were there the weekend that one of the local football teams won the Serie A - very noisy celebrations! Also it was Pentecost so we went to Mass in the Duomo which turned out to be an international service with music, prayers, dancing, and national costumes of many countries - very moving. We also at some point clambered all over the roof of the cathedral with a video camera - lots of photos of my rear end for some reason! La Scala was covered in scaffolding, and the Last Supper was due to reopen the day after we left, after decades of restoration! An odd weekend, but to my surprise I found that I had not forgotten the Italian that I had learnt 30+ years earlier (O level in 1963) and never used.

Good luck with the new job, Amy. Congratulaions! And I am glad that the permanency/continuity of it may well provide a secure background for your change in marital status in October. What great news! Be happy!

PS - why do you need an extra gift for H2B? He's a lucky man to be marrying you, in the first place. In the meantime feel free to accept any item of expensive jewellery from him as a wedding present. No less than you deserve.

Maybe not a good idea if you want to continue to fit into your wedding dress?!

Sorry Blondie --- but as a mere Male , the idea of "Make up Trials" giveds me an attack of the Boggles ! :?

In my case it was just 5 & 9, with cold cream to remove it !

I am sure that you would look STUNNING with no make up at all !

But having once been married to a Model -- I realise that "No Makeup" approximates to nudity !

I checked out your new employers on the internet, Amy, and they look really impressive. I hope that you will be hugely happy working there (despite JR's reference to Fast Food outlets nearby!). Are they going to be supporting you for time off for the Nuptials and all that follows?
