I have a confession. I killed a spider last night! By hand (well, by shoe actually), no vacuum involved! It was loitering in the doorway to my bedroom, all eight legs and fat body of it, and it had to go. It tried to run, but even with eight legs it couldn't outrun me. Actually it lost two legs in the battle, but is that too much information?

In answer to all the "Foul Insinuations" ----------
I do nothing listed in the first Paragraph -- and I have NEVER dropped a fried egg !
My Wife is an excellent cook --- we share the cooking
I usually do the washing-up in the sink -- with hot water and Fairy Liquid
Greasy pots and pans, are washed, as above, seperately.
Dinner Party washing-up, goes in the Dishwasher, but NOT Pots and Pans --- as above
The dishwaser is only used for a lot of load (Saves Water and Electricity)-----

So MTHEEAGH ------ I can't find a smiley with its tongue out ! !-------

In answer to a friend's whingeing about the difficulties of finding the perfect man, I laughingly responded that when she found him I would volunteer to clone him. The joke backfired because she's not very smart, and I spent the rest of the evening explaining that I was being sarcastic: that I didn't believe that she would succeed in finding the perfect man, so I didn't expect to have to keep my end of the bargain, and no, actually, I am not capable of cloning a human.

However, Neill you may be the closest specimen that we have yet come across :D

And as soon as we find someone who CAN clone you (it won't be Caroline) we may just do so :D

OY !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm the complete opposite !!

I clear, wash and dry as I go.

because the dishes need every pan available. I have just made an asparagus quiche for lunch (guests enjoyed it).
That means
TWO separate saucepans to cook the asparagus (tops in one, bottoms in the other),
a saucepan to scald the milk and cream,
a large mixing bowl to hold the custard whilst I whisk it with
an electric beater,
the same saucepan (I cheat) to semi-cook the custard (after which it is beaten again - I'm that way inclined!),
a mould for the quiche
a brush to oil the quiche mould,
a bowl in which to mix the pastry,
a jug of iced water
a rolling pin (BTW - I don't use a marble slab for preparing pastry - I'm not pukka! though you should)
a (whatever they call the greaseproof paper round under the baking beans)
a can of baking beans
a timer
a hob
an oven
a sink etc so that everything is washed, dried and put away before the quiche is finished.

so what else would you use? - Oh yes - an oven glove!

Of course proper cooks use utensils! I do know one woman who spent about £30K a few years back on her kitchen - and has never even cooked water. Wimmin!!!!!

Simple - cause you want us to get on with the rest of the meal, choose and chambre the wine, set the table, paint your toenails, ...... (I nearly wrote "shave y...)

If you want a good meal then you need a proper chef and it is a trade regulation that chefs never ever do the washing up.

I'll answer for you: :axe:

I will never ever allow my knives to go in the dishwasher - far too dangerous. I always wash, dry and put them away myself because they are almost lethal. Even Gillette razor blades are blunt by comparison. The potato peeler is not exactly safe, what with a sharp blade and a triangular spike at the end. Other things sometimes go in - if she has done the cooking though generally I try to wash, dry and put away as items cook, cool etc.when I cook.

SPIDERS
Catching them in your hands is free and easy, my way.

OR

Use a plastic tumbler and a postcard, or a piece of cereal box -(cardboard anyway), for those who don't like 8 leggedy beasties.

WASHING THE DISHES
Whatever will fit in the dishwasher goes in the dishwasher. I have just put the pan I cooked and mashed the spuds in (stainless steel) in the dishwasher.

EXCEPT, the non-stick omelette pan (because it ruins the non-stick), the iron wok and the Sabatier knife (because they go rusty).
